    Movement.  Breath.  Mindfulness.  Meditation.  Mindful Movement is a free community outreach offering from No Bounds Wellness.  Come spend 20-40 minutes of moving meditation.  The sessions will draw heavily from (but not be limited to) the traditional practice of Qigong .... Huh? Key.. what?  Qigong (pronounced “chee gun” or “chee gong” — the important part is the “Qi” !!) is an ancient Chinese system of movement coordinated with breath which has been practiced in various forms as part of Chinese Traditional Medicine for a few thousand years. It is relatively simple to learn and do, yet somewhat unknown in the West.  You may be familiar with Tai Chi (think "hundreds of people in a park standing and waving their hands in unison....") and this is similar ..but slower, gentler, and somewhat less complex.   Tai Chi uses many of the same postures and extends them.  In China, Qigong is “exercise as medicine”.

    Some of the numerous benefits of Qigong that have been cited in medical literature both in the East and West include:

    • more restful sleep, easier to relax
    • improved mobility and flexibility
    • slower, deeper breathing patterns
    • improved balance lessens the risk of falling (I’m in my mid 50s .. reaching those years when that gets to be rather top of mind!)
    • more tranquil thought patterns
    • improved skin 
    • increased energy
    • reduced pain in joints  (fantastic for arthritis sufferers!)

    …. and many others both physical and psychological.  (and by the way, you don’t need to know a thing about meridians or acupuncture or acupressure or reflexology or any of that stuff you might think is kinda sketchy in order for Qigong to be effective … so feel free to be skeptical but keep an open mind!)  All ages welcome -- most sessions can be done entirely sitting down if needed.
